Hi Engineers!
This is a post where I am going to list down some tips and tricks on how you should design your resume to land a job at Google.
- Write a Short Resume
You need to write a 1 page resume where you are able to highlight all your achievements. Nowadays, resumes are mostly online so it doesn't matter if you write multiple pages also, but it should have all the necessary information and shouldn’t have redundancy. - Give links to your work
With online resumes there is another plus point of giving necessary links to your work. This may include your projects, course certificates or your profile links to Codeforces and Codechef etc. This extra information helps when your resume is on the borderline for the recruiter. - Write details about your achievements
You should write all the noteworthy details including winning any coding competition, hackathons, participation in conferences, research papers etc. Mention what contribution you made to the projects. Use vocabulary like: Awarded, Won, Developed, Invented. These words show your capabilities. - Do NOT include things that don’t relate to your profile
Don’t write your hobbies, unless you have won on a good level. Even if you are writing them, mention them at the last. - Only mention things that you think are going to make a positive impact
Don’t mention things that may give any negative impression to the recruiter. If your college grade is too low, don’t bother mentioning it. Recruiter will ask you separately if that is a concern for them.
